Beautiful Starry Winter Wedding Shoot with Bys Vyken Bridal

Imagine stepping into a wintery wonderland, with twinkling starlight and romantic, celestial theming… That’s what I was lucky enough to do in my very first styled shoot! I had an amazing time, working with a phenomenal, all-woman team and I can’t wait to tell you all about it…

The Winter Wedding Theme

I worked with the fantastic Eszter from Emerald Photography, who was incredibly imaginative and made me feel so at ease. The goal of the shoot was to create something beautiful that merged the cool, crispness of winter with the warm, inviting glow of a sky filled with stars. Stars are so often symbolic of dreams and destiny – what better theme for a romantic winter wedding?

We used blues and golds in our colour scheme, matching the timeless night sky and bringing the outside in. It was all brought to life through the fantastic styling skills of Lynne at Rustic Rentals.

The beautiful stationary by Isabelle at Lovebird really nailed the theme and brought that celestial elegance with it. The effect, I hope you’ll agree, was truly magical!

The Wedding Venue

The shoot took place at the fabulous Folly Farm, a sustainable, eco-friendly wedding venue in Somerset. The rustic stone walls of the beautiful barn contrasted perfectly with the warm glow from the many candles casting their soft light as we posed for our pictures. Yes, we. Did I mention I managed to rope my husband into modelling with me for this winter wedding shoot?!

The Wedding Hair & Make Up

I so enjoyed being pampered for this shoot! My hair was beautifully styled by the talented Georgia from Georgia Claire Bridal and we selected a stunning tiara that matched the “wintery” vibes perfectly.

The fabulous make up artist Katie even matched my eyes to the deep blue hues of our nighttime theme – both made me feel so special and I was delighted with the finished look!

My husband also loved being given some attention – after all, grooms deserve to be pampered too and both these amazing ladies offer groom styling packages.

The Wedding Cake & Wedding Flowers

The stunning cake, decorated in deep blue with golden stars, was from Baked By Alexandra. Inscribed with the words “to the moon and back,” it truly captured the romance of the occasion, as did my gorgeous bouquet and full flower set up from Megan Lily Floral Design. Shades of blue and white were included to reflect the night sky, with blue ribbon tying the beautiful blooms together.

Winter Wedding Dresses

I wore two dresses for this shoot – Storm by Shikoba and Or Blanc by Rembo Styling (both available at Bys Vyken Bridal!). These gowns made me feel amazing! Storm felt perfect for the magical theme, especially as those gorgeous sequins (including star shaped sequins!) shone in the candlelight, whilst Or Blanc’s soft, boho chic complemented the beautiful floral arrangements and rustic venue.
